RARECHEM AL BO 0129 - Introduction
1,3-phenylenediacetic acid, chemical formula C8H6O4, is an organic compound, also known as phthalic acid. Its molecular structure contains two carboxyl groups and two methyl groups, and has the morphology of a white crystalline solid.
Nature:
-The melting point is ~ 137 ℃ and the boiling point is ~ 399 ℃.
-colorless crystals at room temperature, soluble in ethanol, acetone, ether and other organic solvents, insoluble in water.
-Acidic, can react with alkali to generate the corresponding salt.
Use:
-1,3-phenylenediacetic acid is an important organic synthetic raw material, commonly used in the preparation of other chemical substances, such as polyester, plastics, coatings, rubber, etc.
-It is also used as a raw material for dyes, catalysts and drugs.
Method:
The preparation of
- 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid usually uses the nitration reaction of benzene to obtain nitrobenzene, and the reduction reaction to obtain p-nitroaniline. The p-Nitroaniline is then converted to isophthalic acid by aerobic oxidation or hydrogenation.
Safety Information:
- 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid is non-toxic, but care should be taken to avoid inhaling dust or contact with the skin and eyes.
-Wear protective gloves, goggles and protective mask during operation.
-Store sealed, away from fire and oxidant.
Please note that the above information is for reference only, please follow the correct operation and safety regulations when using this compound.
